Grading in general requires large, specialized equipment to do right. If you have a large property, or a farm or ranch, and you don’t want to hire someone who has all the gear and knowhow, here are some strategies that can help insure that you get the job done and get it done right.
First, determine where water needs to flow, this is simply the most important step that is overlooked by novices almost every time. Make a plan, because it’s going to rain, and water moves around on your property. Then use a rotary laser to find high and low spots in the grade.تت Run some string linesت to use as references for where grade needs to be.
Next, bring in fill dirt where needed, and use a bucket, box blade, and a float to get everything to proper grade using the string lines as guides. Check the grade with the laser again, do it again, check it again, do it again, check it again, take your time to do it right and to adjust where needed. Think long-term on this project, and be sure to plan for wear and tear too.
Lastly, compact the area by using the wheels or tracks of the machine in a systematic way, and you should be good to go.
